Julien spent most of his twenties and early thirties in Nantes being the quiet one in every room -- the guy who rehearsed a sentence in his head for ten minutes and then let the meeting move on without saying it. He works a regular office job in logistics. A few years back he got tired of shrinking and started treating confidence like something you practise instead of something you're born with: small daily challenges, a stack of online courses of wildly uneven quality, awkward attempts at speaking up. Some of it helped, a lot of it was recycled motivation. He writes about what moved the needle for a former shy person, not what the gurus promise. No coaching certificate, no psychology degree -- just someone who went from dreading phone calls to handling them.
